Before Fat Cow Tallow became a collection of everyday essentials, it began with parents searching for something that would help their son’s skin.
How it all happened
01 · THE BEGINNING
Our boy, Charlie.
At just two months old, Charlie developed eczema. His cheeks became inflamed and cracked, and they would often weep. We hoped he would grow out of it, but as he got older, his skin struggles became harder.
By six months, it felt as though we had tried every cream, lotion, and ointment we could find—from natural options to conventional products. The prescribed steroid cream offered temporary relief, but the symptoms would return when we stopped using it.
We kept searching. We wanted something simple and nourishing that we could feel good about making part of his daily care.

The beginning of
Charlie’s Balm.
That search eventually led us to tallow. After months of research and development, we made our own version—the balm now named after the little boy who inspired it.
Within a few days of using it, we began noticing improvements in Charlie’s skin. As we continued using the balm regularly, we saw more changes. For our family, it was a moment of relief after a long and difficult search.
What started as something made for Charlie became a staple in our home, and the foundation of Fat Cow Tallow.
