Where did Tallow come from?

Before the influx of man-made chemicals, toxins and unnatural substances in skincare, tallow played a prominent role. Being used for thousands of years, beef tallow was the original moisturizer, nutrient-rich cream, skincare product, and the main ingredient to soaps and candles. Around the 1950s, the skin care industry flipped the script and started producing cheap and easy lab made products using petroleum based detergents using synthetic, chemically derived formulas that our bodies don’t agree with. That’s why people fall into an endless pit of trying commercialized products that do nothing for you. Even products that market as all natural still have harmful chemicals that you may not even be aware of. When companies replace Mother Nature with man made products, it never goes well. It’s no secret that God knew what He was doing when He made the world. Nature has all the necessary ingredients to heal and nourish and Fat Cow tallow is bringing back centuries old practices that never should have went away in the first place.

What can Tallow be used for?

Fat Cow Tallow is very multifunctional and can replace night cream, lotions, makeup remover, moisturizers. It can be applied topically anywhere on the body. Some things it can be used for, but not limited to, are - eczema, dry skin, cradle cap, mastitis, sunburns, scratches, scrapes, ear infections, pink eye, stretch marks, athletes foot, shingles, acne, topical steroid withdrawal, ring worm, wrinkles, diaper rash, age spots, rashes, hemorrhoids, scars, c-section scars, cracked heals, vaginal yeast infections, face primer, sun damaged skin, chemical burns, chapped nipped from breastfeeding, psoriasis, Impetigo. The list can go on and on!! It’s truly versatile!

What products do you sell and what is the difference between them?

Fat Cow Tallow sells 4 different kinds of Tallow balms:

Basic Balm: This balm can be used as a daily moisturizer for face and body. It’s great for Minor skin irritants and issues.

Scent: Lavender

Baby Balm: Although all our balms are safe for babies, this one is made specifically for babies or people with sensitive skin to essential oils and is 100% consumable. It can be used as a moisturizer or for minor skin irritants and issues.

Scent: Un-scented

Charlie’s Balm: Named after my son, and the reason for Fat Cow Tallow. Not only does this make an amazing moisturizer but it helps with more severe skin conditions such as eczema, burns, and acne.

Scent: Lavender, Tea Tree

Emollient Balm: The anti-aging potion. Made with ingredients that help your skin looking it’s best. This balm targets areas like wrinkles, aging spots, and stretch marks.

Scent: Rose

What is Tallow and its benefits?

Tallow is essentially rendered fat from cattle. Tallow from specifically 100% grass fed, grass finished cows provides vitamins and saturated fats found in no other source.Tallow contains high concentrations of fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, and K in a balanced combination with their activators. This is a big reason why beef tallow has such a profound impact on your skin and overall health.Grass-fed tallow also contains Vitamin E (four times as much as grain-fed cows). It even has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties thanks to high concentrations of essential fatty acids your skin needs, like conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and palmitoleic acid.

Here’s how each of these vitamins help your skin

Vitamin A - Vitamin A helps to speed up healing, prevent breakouts and support the skin's immune system and it promotes natural moisturising - which means it helps to hydrate the skin effectively, giving it a radiant glow. It also encourages the production of collagen, elastin, and healthy skin cells. This helps strengthen tissue to keep skin firm, smooth and youthful.

Vitamin D - Vitamin D contributes to skin cell growth, repair, and metabolism. It’s able to protect and rejuvenate your skin by protecting against free radicals that cause premature aging.

Vitamin K - Vitamin K effectively reduces bruises, improves your skin's ability to heal wounds, fights free radical damage and helps reverse premature skin aging. It Plays an important role in skin tone, texture, and overall health.

Vitamin E - Vitamin E helps prevent wrinkles, heal wounds, and make scars less visible. This powerful antioxidant can deeply hyrdrate and promote healing in your skin’s physical appearance.

Grass-fed, grass-finished tallow contains oleic acid (omega-9), palmitoleic acid (omega-7), linoleic acid (omega-6), alpha-linoleic (omega-3), conjugated lineic acid (CLA), palmitic acid, and stearic acid. The combination of these make for a moisturizing and healing cream.

Over half of tallow is made up of saturated fat just like the lipids found in healthy skin. Having such a similar makeup means that beef tallow is incredibly compatible with our cell biology. This translates to a powerful experience that nourishes and boosts our cell health. Another indication of its positive impact on our skin is its similarity to sebum. Sebum is the oily, waxy substance that moisturizes, lubricates, and protects your skin. Fun fact, sebum translates to “tallow” in Latin!

How long is the shelf life for your Tallow balm?

Tallow will last 6-9 months. We recommend you store your tallow balm in a cool, dark, dry place.

Are your Tallow balms safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Yes, all of our tallow balms are safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Are your Tallow balms safe for children and babies?

Yes, all of our tallow balms are safe for children and babies. A patch test is recommended to make sure there are no unknown allergies.

What makes your Baby Balm consumable, and why?

Charlie, my son, had severe eczema that mainly targeted his cheeks. My main concern was him getting any of the tons of creams that I’ve tried into his mouth by accident. When I would apply anything, I’d have to hold his little hands down for as long as possible so he wouldn’t rub it into his mouth. With this balm, you won’t need to have those fears.

The baby balm is made with all food grade ingredients that won’t harm if ingested. You may not want to spread it on toast but it is edible. This balm is also 100% fragrance free, which makes it perfect for sensitive and delicate skin. (Please Check ingredients for allergies)
